SPAMalot

I went to see SPAMalot with my lovely wife and a group of friends last night at the Des Moines Civic Center.  I went in with no expectations and had done no research on the play...nor had I read any reviews.  My only vague expectation was that my wife would be begging to leave as I quoted every line from the Holy Grail film while they re-enacted the movie.   Wrong!

The play was almost Mel Brooks'ish in its lampooning of big Broadway plays with overdone formulaic songs and music and expensive sets.

The performance was extremely entertaining and allowed for those that simply "don't get the whole British Python thing" to have a bunch of laughs too.

I'd highly recommend the show to anyone interested in having fun.  If you're a Python addict...you'll be that much happier methinks
